Christmas Ornament from the 1970’s

This Christmas ornament was handmade by Mrs. Bufford Parse for the donor Amy Crouch Howard in the early 1970s. The Parses lived next door to the Crouch family on Boswell Street in Batesville. The ornament is made from a silver egg that Legg brand panty hose manufactured. There are red gingham ribbons attached to the top and bottom and small silver bells. White foam is inside the bottom of the egg to represent snow with a plastic Christmas tree and miniature Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus figurines in the shell. There were small mirrored squares glued along the outside shell of the egg. The ornament is part of the Howard Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.
