July 1930 – Hottest month recorded
This newspaper article from the Moser Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum, states that July 1930 was the hottest month ever recorded. The article goes on to say that from July 4, 1930-July 30th not a single day passed without a temperature of 100 or more being recorded. August brought no relief and the country is also plagued by drought.
