The Rhodes collection at Old Independence Regional Museum contains this photo of Drury Adams, Esquire ca 1870. He was the father of Drury Adams Sr. and James Adams II, and was the husband of Henrietta McDowell. He was a lawyer in St. Louis. He died of tuberculosis at age 34. He wrote several love letters which are now also part of the Rhodes collection. He was told to wear a beard to protect his chest.
