The Birmingham collection at Old Independence Regional Museum houses this photo of the James Emery Birmingham family from Dowdy, Arkansas. The photo was taken at the family farm in 1905.

James Emery Birmingham family from Dowdy, Arkansas 1905.

James Emery Birmingham was born on October 10, 1854 in a wagon near Sikeston, Missouri. He was the son of James Malacia Birmingham and Nancy J. Birmingham, and was said to be ¾ Irish and ¼ Indian.
