The Jones collection at Old Independence Regional Museum is home to this artifact which was found near lower Main Street, Batesville. The item is believed to be an iron tomahawk used for trade with Indians from the 1600s through 1850. The iron head is chipped and corroded. The area around lower Main Street was once part of the Polk Creek settlement.
