The Wright Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum contains these photos of the Arbor Day celebration at the Batesville Public School in April 1909. The photos show the teachers and students at the side of the building on the southwest corner of Vine and 7th Streets. (Today this is Central Elementary.) In one photo you can see the teachers and students planting a tree beside the school building and other students in the windows.
