The Chesser Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum is home to this photo of teacher James Allen Bales. The building is possibly the Lead Hill School in Boone County Arkansas. Mr. Bales taught at Arkansas College and died in 1921. He is buried in Johnson Cemetery which is located behind the current Independence County Fairgrounds.
