Four packets of chewing gum made by the American Chicle Company .

Four packets of chewing gum made by the American Chicle Company that are part of the Bryant Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.  Two of the packets are named Adams Kis-Me and the other two packets are called Sweet Sixteen Wintergreen.  The wrapper on the wintergreen states “this wrapper is a united sharing coupon, save this wrapper.”  Kis-Me was created by Jonathan Primley.  The American Chicle Company was started in 1899 by Edward Beeman and Jonathan Primley.  The company is currently owned by Cadbury.  The first American gum patent was issued in 1869 and the first bubble gum was patented in 1928.
