Gem Hotel in Evening Shade — thought to be taken in 1890
This photo shows the Gem Hotel in Evening Shade and was thought to be taken in 1890. The hotel was two stories with a picket fence and a large gathering of people in the balcony and in front of the hotel. A cornet band with instruments can be seen in the photo. The original copy of this photo was found during the renovation of the old McCaleb house in a upstairs room between the wall and floor in 2007. This photo is part of the Royal Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.
