Pictured here is a snowball hammer

Pictured here is a snowball hammer.

Pictured here is a snowball hammer.  It was a tool  used to knock out the snow and ice that collected in the hollowed out section of a horses foot.  The flat end was used to knock loose the snow and the pointed end served as a pick.  This hammer was found in a lake in Independence County, Arkansas.   This tool is part of the Kennedy Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.
