The John Shackleford Cowdrey house was located in Yellville, Arkansas. Cowdrey died in 1928 and his father who was a surgeon in the 144th Arkansas Infantry in the Civil War died in 1866. The family lived on the 1st and 3rd floors of the house and the 2nd floor served as a hospital. This photo is part of the Marion County Historic Genealogical Society Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.
