Will of Malachi Simpson, which is dated May 3, 1850

This document is the will of Malachi Simpson which is dated May 3, 1850. The will appoints his son Abijah A. Simpson as the executor of the will. Malachi leaves his wife, Isabella, the household and kitchen furniture, a slave and land. He leaves his step daughter, Alpha Jackson one horse, a cow and calf and furniture. He leaves his son similar items. He also instructs that after his wife Isabella passes away that the land and slave should be sold and the money divided between the heirs. This artifact is part of the Barnett Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.
