Leather wallet belonging to William P. Huddleston circa 1835

This leather wallet belonged to William P. Huddleston around 1835.  Inside there are handwritten receipt accounts mentioning the names Hodges, Carrigan, H.C. Smith as well as a receipt from 1858.  It is brown leather with a wraparound strap to close.  The leather is tooled with an American eagle and name with the date written inside.  William Pryor Huddleston Sr. and his wife Sarah immigrated with their children from Tennessee to Independence county in 1849  He was a teacher, scholar and civil officer who died in 1877.      This object is part of the Huddleston Collection at Old Independence Regional Museum.
